Gator cover installed

Took about 10 minutes to install. However, we have the bed rail system, and the cover comes with the standard screw clamps plus a strap that is sewn into a 2 piece clamp that is meant to slide into the bed rails. Could not figure out 1) how to install this and 2) why it is even needed. Feedback on this would be appreciated if you've dealt with it already. PFA.
