FX4 OIL CHANGE - Torx screw?

Does anyone know the thread pitch and/or length of the torx screws/bolts on the skid plate?


Long story short I would like to change the oil once I hit 2500 kms. I'm just under 2k now. I haven't been under the vehicle yet but the pros on YouTube told me there's a few torx head screw to pull.

I have stripped every torx I have ever danced with. Maybe not the first time but by at least the third haha.

I would much rather throw in a 1/2 hex head screw or even a robby just to get away from the eventual problem of stripping it.

Torx was designed to prevent cam out, and thus stripping, so it's surprising you're stripping Torx. It get's even better with Torx plus. Be sure you're using the correct size and not a size under, and not over torquing the screws.

My company works almost exclusively with Torx because it has such a low strip-out rate. A lot of the screws we use are installed/removed on a daily basis as well, and properly torqued.

if I remember right, I think i used a t27 for the lights. doesn't sound off to me

A suggestion would be to take one of the screws out and go to Lowes or Home Depot. They have a screw guide hanging somewhere on a shelf. See what one fits. I have done this many times and it is very helpful.
