Fuel door issue

Hi Everyone,
I have a hybrid model and out of the blue the fuel door won't respond when I push the button.
I've located the green tab on the drivers side rear wheel and have pulled on that but no dice still.
I'm worried I'm going to snap the green plastic tab.
Do you pull the plastic wire straight down or diagonal or something?
Any other options out there?
The main dash says to look in the drivers manual but my Maverick is used and didn't come with one.
Any help would be appreciated!

May have to start at the main page to get your manual year.

Because you may also need to look at the fuses. Which are in the manual.

It's not a tough pull on the green tab straight down - but other systems still need to be working or the refueling will be only about a necks worth of fuel. So they are engaged too.
Hence the instruction order.


Manually Opening the Fuel Filler Door - Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV)

WARNING: The fuel system may be under pressure. If you hear a hissing sound near the fuel filler inlet, do not refuel until the sound stops. Otherwise, fuel may spray out, which could cause serious personal injury.

Note: The transmission must be in park (P) or neutral (N).
When using the manual override cable do the following:

1. Switch the ignition on.

Note: The manual override cable is in the left side rear wheel well area.

1. Pull the manual override cable down.

Note: Pull the manual override cable once. Repeated pulls can damage the manual override cable.
Note: Make sure the manual override cable moves freely without any obstructions.

1. Switch the ignition off.

1. Complete the refueling process within 20 minutes.

1. Return the manual override cable to its original position.

Note: Only follow this procedure if the fuel filler door fails to open. If the problem remains, have your vehicle checked as soon as possible.
