Remember the $200 four-piece Touchlink bed lighting kit by Lumens that turned out to be two lightbulbs and two other parts that nobody bought because it was way overpriced? Well, I ordered it when I first ordered the Maverick and I got a VIN before I figured out it was a waste of $200. I just got around to installing them and they really are overpriced but not too bad a product actually. Touch either light for two seconds and they both come on, touch either bulb again or just ignore them for a few minutes and they go out. Completely redundant if you have a Larriet, but more light is always welcome and I'd rather have them than not have them.

I see that we are currently offered a four-light kit for $320. I assume the extra two lights would be placed in the front of the bed. I don't want to get involved in a discussion of the value or price, but the extra two lights would be a very nice addition.

What was the install like? Was it plug and play into factory wiring?

Would these work on any Maverick?

Do they come on with the roof mounted bed light?

I took my truck and the lights to the dealer and let them do the installation so I have no idea how difficult it was. A plastic bed liner would bugger things up, but the lights would work on any trim level, and NO they don't come on with the cab lights.

Nope. I just double checked and my new Lumens lights don't come on with the over-the-cab lights. I have a Lariet and the "Lariet" light on the rear, drivers side comes on with the cab lights but the newly installed Lumens bed lights don't.

I would take it back, the harness goes into the pin out for the cab lights. pin 7 if I remember correctly on the BCM connector under the glove box. If your lights only come on via touch that means they only plugged in the red wire into the constant 12v on pin 69, either they didn't plug in the blue wire at all or they put it in the wrong pin.

Hi. I hope you can help as it seems you have a much better knowledge of these lights than i do...

I had the lights installed in my maverick this past week and the two (unfortunately not four like originally advertised) lumen touchlink lights light up whenever the doors are opened or when the in-bed light (the one on the cubby door) is switched on.

However, when I try to manually turn on the touchlink lights (without the cubby light switch or opening the cab doors) by touching it for two seconds, the drivers side turns on but the passenger one does not. I cannot manually turn on the passenger light at all.

I thought it was supposed to work by touching ANY of the touchlink lights to make them all turn on and turn off. As-in i should not have to be on the drivers side to turn them on or off as i believe it should work from either side. Am i incorrect and maybe they were improperly installed?

I tried calling the service adviser at the dealer who installed them but he said that was the first time he or his tech had seen these lights and was unsure of how they worked.

To be fair, both touchlink lights do work, just not the way i thought they would based on the description of touch one and they all turn on.

Also, I wanted four of them so i plan on piggybacking the other two off these - anyone have any suggestions on how to make the piggybacked ones work to turn all on/off?

Thanks

So i googled it and just watched this video "" and in fact all four (in our case two) should work to turn on and off the lights. I think my dealer may have installed it wrong.

So your main harness you have a blue and red pin, red goes to pin 69 which is a constant hot 12v directly to the battery which allows you to turn the lights on even when the truck is off.

blue is your switched pin to cargo lights so they come on and off when cargo lights do (open door, unlock car, hit the switch).
Now in the light you have a yellow wire which is a communication wire to the other light to turn on if it gets turned on.

since both lights are turning on with cargo, your blue wire and ground wire are fine. It may be the offending lights red constant not pinned properly into its plug that goes into harness. It could also be the yellow communication not pinned properly but you never mentioned if it turns on or not when you manually turn on the passenger side.

it could simply be a bad light or maybe the harness is pinched somewhere or more likely the pins are not making contact due to bad installation or defect.

First thing I would do if you’re mechanically inclined and have the tools is pop off the taillights then pop out the lumens (they are right behind the taillight and should be installed with expanding rivets the plugs should be held together by foam tape,
my dealer screwed right into the bed with sheet metal screws 🤦🏻‍♂️) switch the lights from side to side and see if the problem follows the light, if it does then you have your culprit, a faulty light. If not then it needs a deeper dive for the harness and/or pinning issue.
You’re dealer should do this under warranty.

p.s don’t get two more lights just get a bed light kit led strip and tap into the blue wire on the harness to come on with cargo lights. That’s what I did. I guess if you tapped into the yellow wire it would come on when you touched the lights as well. Never tested this though.
