I really don't like car washes with those big brushes. Can't help but feel they're not good in the long haul for the paint job. Unfortunately, my condo doesn't have any place to wash our cars, and I really want to keep my Maverick clean. So, after reading many reviews and watching my Youtube videos, I order some ONR and a big red sponge. Used it for the first time today. I'm impressed. Nice clean truck, with no swirls or water spots. If the truck ever gets heavy dirt caked on it, I'll go to one of those brushless car washes, but for routine cleaning, I think ONR is the way to go.

To each his own, but I really don't understand the apprehension of using a car wash. My F-150 is 6 years old and I run it through a car wash two to three days a week. The paint and windows always bead up when it rains and overall the truck looks excellent without ever have been waxed.

I'll go along with that. Have not seen actual brushes in a carwash for years. Now it looks like pieces of cloth or sponge.
I sure someone will be along that knows more and will supply some facts.

I'm not a fan of car washes. Even those with the sponge or mesh that flail around like an air dancer at a strip mall cause micro scratches that dull the clear coat over time. I use a bucket and yellow microfiber towels they sell for cheap at Costco. Just don't drop one because leaves and crap stick to them. I finish it off with Mcquire's spray shine and the tires with water-based tire dressing.

the ones with the brushes do scratch since the same dirt off the car in front of you hits your car. between the two id use the touch less, but those have to use some harsher cleaners usually in my experience. however, if there is a self serve bay by you, thats optimal. bring a bucket mitt and soap some brushes if you need and go to town

Even though I am not in the same situation as you, seeing I can use my hose and water whenever I choose, I tried some of this product and must admit I am very impressed. When we go a long time without rain, even in garage my Alto Blue Lariat just finds a way to attract light coat of dust. This work perfectly to do a section, come right behind it with a microfiber towel and it looks new. Good suggestion.

I think another positive of using ONR is the cost. According to the directions, you use 1 oz to 2 gal of water. Two gallons is all I need to wash my truck. I figured with the cost of the ONR, plus the cost of the Big Red Sponge (you might not choose to go that route, but I did), and also the cost of the Multi Pro pump sprayer (again, something you might not use), and a new micro-fiber drying towel cost me a total of about $80. Divide that by 32 washes, the per wash cost is app $1.89m or about $61 after 32 washes. 32 washes at the local self-serve car wash are going to cost about $192. And the per-wash cost will decrease as time goes on because the sprayer cost is a one-time cost.

They cause swirl marks over time.
