Had the opportunity to use the towing capabilities of my Maverick last weekend - and I was very happy.
I had been working on a townhouse I own in Chicagoland, getting ready to sell it. Over some months I had taken many of my tools there without bringing them home plus still had several boxes of personal items stored there.
Anyway, time came to bring them all back and the only way to do in a single trip was to either rent a one way truck or trailer - opted for the second, a 5x8 UHaul single axle in which all my stuff fit nicely. The UHaul site says I could town this trailer with about 1100 lbs of load. Not sure how much I did put in it, but the Maverick did not seem to have any kind of problem handling the load. Could I tell the trailer was back there? - yeah, but when I towed a trailer with my E-250 van several years back, I could tell that was back there too.
I travelled across northern Indiana and Ohio from Chicago area back to Cleveland OH. As anyone who has travelled that route before knows - it is pretty flat and generally uninteresting - so no challenging hills to manage. Weather was clear with no strong winds to speak of.
On the highway, I set the ACC at 65MPH. The Lane Centering and ACC worked great. Overall, average speed was about 55mph and got 25+ mpg without any issue at all.
Really happy with my experience and, once again, my Maverick purchase 3 years ago has paid off. I love this thing!
