I’ve been dreaming about owning a Hybrid Maverick ever since they were first announced. But every time I got close, something always got in the way. My most recent letdown? I went to my local dealership in December to buy a 2024 Cactus Gray Hybrid—only to find out Ford had just issued a stop-sale order. Ugh. Another failed attempt.

Fast forward to June: I put down a deposit on a 2025 Hybrid XLT FWD at Jerry’s Ford in Leesburg, VA. The sales rep told me it would be on the lot in a week. Then the date slipped to June 26th… then June 29th… then “we’re not sure when it’ll arrive.” At that point, I figured I was headed for disappointment yet again.

But I wasn’t ready to give up. Right before the 4th of July weekend, I expanded my search radius to over 50 miles—and that’s when I struck gold. Battlefield Ford in Culpeper, VA had exactly what I was looking for: a 2025 Hybrid FWD with the Luxury Package and Co-Pilot 1.0, plus floor mats, and the price was spot-on.

There was just one catch: Battlefield doesn’t hold vehicles unless you’re coming from more than four hours away. It’s strictly first come, first served. So I took a day off work, made the 1.5-hour drive to Culpeper, and crossed my fingers.

And I’m so glad I did. The team at Battlefield Ford was fantastic. The out-the-door price matched exactly what they quoted me via email—no hidden fees, no last-minute surprises. Even the Finance Manager was great—no pressure, no upselling, just a smooth, honest transaction. Best of all? I averaged 41 mpg on the drive home. 😄

So after years of waiting (and maybe a little obsessing), I finally got my Maverick. I’ll post some pics once I get it cleaned up—it’s still a bit dusty from the 65-mile ride home.

Thanks for reading, and for everyone still searching: don’t give up. Your Maverick moment might be just around the corner.

I've noticed the same thing at my local dealer where I bought, all the leftover inventory is Ecoboost and all the hybrids like mine are long gone, seems that way most places I look at inventory online. Congrats on the new truck, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Welcome fellow Virginian. And the drive from Leesburg to Culpepper used to be a nice ride. I haven't done it in awhile but sounds like it was worth it. I have a dealer 3 miles from my house and another 10 miles from me. yet I had to go 30 miles to get what I wanted. Both of them wanted to force me to buy dealer add ons so I said NOPE. Looking forward to seeing your pics.
It's so true. If my golf game was better, I can almost hit Jerry's Ford with a solid drive from my house. I might have even waited if the sales guy was upfront about waiting for the truck versus, the "I promise you it will be here next week" white lie. Instead I had to go all the way down to Culpeper to get one. But it all worked out in the end.

Now I just need to find time to wash and wax the truck. I'm spending too much time trying to figure out what accessories to get first.:crackup:

PS - The drive down to Culpeper used to be a relaxing drive in the country, but they have built so many homes around Gainesville and Warrenton area, that the roads are always congested and everyone is in a hurry.

Gainesville and Warrenton area,
I grew up in this area and no longer recognize it when I got back to visit.
It's very much a congested, overpriced bedroom community for DC vs the rural countryside it was of my youth.

Congrats. You are going to love the truck. You will find that depending on how you drive, that MPG will improve.

- AVS bug shield
- Gator SRX roll up tonneau cover
- And a bunch of other stuff...

Looks like it all worked out for the better this way. I love the idea of a hybrid truck but at the time I was shopping for my Mav they didn't yet have an AWD hybrid so I settled on the AWD ecoboost. Still happy with my purchase but it'd be alot cooler getting 40mpg rather than 30mpg :censored:

Yeah... you need AWD + snow tires in your neck of the woods in the winter time. My wife is from Spokane, and we have been snowed in a few times while visiting her family during the holidays. The fix is just don't go to Spokane in the winter time.
