Finally got a Maverick after a full year

At first she was a little upset she wasn't getting the hybrid, but for terms of long term ownership not having the battery to deal with will be nice. Now only have to worry about the AWD system

Wh6 anyone would say trade 'worrying' about a battery that gets you 40 to 50 MPG for AWD is beyond my comprehension. I've driven hybrid Fords for nearly 10 years with C-Max (my current one has over 100k miles) and they are trouble free, no diminution in charge (have one plug in) and amazing mileage. My Lariat hybrid was subjected to a 3200 mile trip right out of the box as it was picked up from a south Fla dealer and driven to Southern CA to avoid 10k over MSRP (and to get it the way l wanted) after a 13 month wait. Zero issues and the battery would be the last thing l would 'worry' about.

Because it is a battery they will fail over time no matter what. Yes the engine will as well but then in a hybrid system you have to worry about both not just one. Also 100k miles is not that much. I would expect it to last that much. Though after that it gets very costly to replace that. I would only like to have to worry about it. Also The AWD is better for where I live and the uses we want out of the maverick vs the hybrid

Agree. The type of engine should be all about use, nothing else.
