I am shocked at the number of posts I‘ve seen on different forums of people that are placing orders after dealers tell them they’ll work out the final price at a later time! What???? There can’t be that many stupid people out there. Don‘t order anything unless you have the final “out the door” price in writing! Out the door includes all the added dealer markups, doc fees, etc.. if you don’t, you’re going to be disappointed later as they don’t care if you decline it, they then have dealer stock and you waited all that time for nothing. Dealers don’t give a shit about you. My local dealer that I’ve bought my last three new vehicles from would only give me MSRP on my Bronco order. I went somewhere else and saved $2,200. Went back to that dealer to order my Maverick, but only after getting everything in writing.

Hmm, "out the door" pricing would almost always be an estimate, as the dealer does not control external incentives and laws that can change the price between now and when the vehicle actually arrives. Especially if some of these orders bleed over into next year. What shouldn't be an estimate is the sale price. That said doc fees and such should not change, and if they do feel free to take your business to another dealer. I would.

It is not an estimate. Wow, clueless people with money to just throw away. I have my final price in writing from my dealer for the Maverick I ordered.

If the tax rate changed between now and when you actually pay for the vehicle, the dealer would not eat that cost, genius.

Are you under the impression that people on this board have never bought a car before?

Stop being insulting to people. There is no reason to act like this. People may not know things or are uninformed. You could offer advise without having an uncivil attitude.

We can always walk away if we don't like the final price. Hence, refundable. The fact we're ordering before the launch means we have done our homework and this isn't our first rodeo. Ordering it before it launches kinda restricts the dealerships from going crazy marking these up. They can't throw terms like "oh these are very popular! This is the only one I have on the lot!"

I believe being on the ground floor on this is the only way to get a fair price. Once it becomes more mainstream, it'll be marked up to the point that it would make more sense to get a Ranger.

Taxes are not a factor, yes they can change, but that is not something the dealer sneaks in on the sale. In my state you pay the taxes separately days after the sale at the license office.

From the comments I read, yes, a few of them!!! I don’t care what the hell they do, I’m just trying to save them some grief. I won’t try to help anymore.

I don't think that anyone has an issue with you trying to help--in fact, people around here seem very appreciative of the help that they receive on this site. Rather, it's with you calling people "clueless," and "stupid." Part of being helpful is being civil and kind.

You’re the 3rd Missourian (myself included) that I have seen post here and bought. Where from 2022EOW? Cottleville here.

Do you think everyone lives where you do? My dealer has a line for the tax estimation on my order. There is also an estimate for the license fees. Then they list my estimated out the door price. If their fees change I will walk away, but if the state changes them, that's not on the dealer. Stop being such a jerk.
