Fender flares without the rubber trim?

considering doing fender flares but the ones im looking at (EGR and Rough Country) have a rubber trim around the edges between the truck and flare.

Is there a way to do this without them?

You want that to fill in the gaps between the flare and the body, some people have even used ppe film first to protect the paint.

I just don't want the black line it creates.

That's apparently why they use the PPE film.

People who removed their flares that weren't sealed at the edges reported dirt and grime under the flares, leaving scratches. Best practice would be to use either ppf or seal the edges. Or both.
