Great photos, thanks. So it is possible to pull off the badge using a plastic tool to pry? Do you pry progressively around the edge where the pins are or do you insert tools in multiple places? I want to put side marker lights that coordinate with the turn signals. I saw another post here with that project.

Use a plastic pry tool to dislodge the badge from each specific insert point going all around alternating insert points. Once the badge feels loose all the way around (dislodged at every point but still attached), pull as straight out as possible all at the same time. Pull as leveled straight out as possible to prevent breaking any tabs. There are metal clip inserts on the body holding the tabs in place. If done right, the metal clips stay in place.

The metal receiver inserts that hold the plastic tabs of the emblem and attach them to the truck each have four small teeth, two on one side and two on the other.

Before you put your emblem back into the truck, have a look at each of the inserts to make sure that those teeth haven't deployed out too far. If they do deploy, they can grab and hold onto the plastic tab, making it much more difficult to get them out a second time.

You can squeeze them back down flat, in line with the rest of the insert body with a pair of needle-nose pliers.
