farm bureau incentive question

For the Farm Bureau $500 incentive, do I have to become a member of the local chapter? It's $150 here in Calif, so can I join elsewhere for less and will the dealer honor it? Anyone in California have experience with that, and any suggestion for best/cheapest chapter to join?

In New Jersey, there are several levels of membership and in order to get the discount, I would have to be a farmer or own farmland. I joined the chapter in Illinois for only $20. I was chatting with my salesman (who has since retired since I placed my order) and he contacted the dealership and they stated that your registration state must be the same as your farm bureau membership. Maybe PA is different or he got fed some bad information from the sales manager that is there. I was looking to join the Illinois because it’s $80 cheaper than PA.
To anyone that did register in PA, did you register as “A friend of agriculture?”
