They tried to submit it and Ford is denying it because I have the back dated 0% Financing Incentive.
Will be talking with the manager tomorrow to try and either get them to write me a check or redo the price with X-plan which I qualify for. Not sure if they will do either, but worth a shot.

I'm probably wrong, but since myself AND the dealer signed the form stating I'd get $500 cash back, don't they have to honor that as part of the deal? If not, why do I have to honor the form we signed stating I'd pay for the truck?
What exactly does this form say in regards to the $500? Yes I think you very much have a leg to stand on. You are owed a check for $500. The dealership knew this rebate was invalid when they put it in their system, yet completed the deal stating you would get it. Their mistake, not yours and not Fords.

Swindled, buddy. Sorry.

That rebate should have gone down as part of your down payment on the finance docs.

Why would the dealer swindle someone over this? There is a system from Ford that says which rebates are compatible. It doesn't help/hurt the dealer to accept or not accept a rebate like that. If the customer is eligible for a $500 rebate, the dealer claims $500 from Ford. It is also possible to have Ford send the customer a check for $500. No reason for a dealer not to give a rebate if the customer is eligible (and it is compatible with other offers/sale date).

Something like X-plan is different. That changes the sale price, and likely means that the dealer makes less money on the deal. Some dealers are pushing back against low financing rates from Ford Credit for the same reason.

You tell me.

They promised a "check in the mail" to make a customer drop the issue.

Said check never came.

Not all rebates are compatible. If can't look up your specific case (unless you haven't purchased yet?), but it makes sense that if you were using the protected 0% financing from the order date, that you can't use another rebate that you weren't eligible for at that date.

If you haven't completed the purchase yet, I can probably try and look up what rebates are compatible for you.

Do you know if they check was supposed to come from the dealership, or from Ford?

There is a form that you sign acknowledging rebates. That should specify for each rebate if it is being paid to the dealership or if Ford will send a check to the customer.
Do you remember if it was indicated that the check would be sent to you on that form?

Thanks. I did already purchase my Maverick March 30th.
My dealer filed an "exclusion" with Ford, I think that's what they called it, and I DID end up getting the $500 check from Ford.

I guess the issue was that I Was a Farm Bureau member when I purchased the truck, but not when I ordered it in July 2021.

Yes, that does make sense to me. There are ways for dealers to file for "exceptions" if things don't match up in Ford's systems. If they used the protection date for other incentives, the Farm Bureau rebate probably wouldn't have shown up if you weren't eligible @ that date.

For anyone else in a similar situation, that probably is the ideal way for the dealership to handle it. They did the work for contact Ford for the exception (at times this can be a real pain!), and had it payable to you. It is Ford's decision...and the dealership really shouldn't be out $500 if Ford decides that it isn't compatible.

We do that too if there are any "questionable" rebates. Rather than just denying to use them for the customer, this protects the dealership from losing the money and gives the customer a chance to get it.

I'm glad it worked out for you in the end!
