2022 AWD Ecoboost. Purchased new, all maintenance done by myself. 72K miles/115K km's. lifetime fuel economy 8.6L/100km////27MPG
Got stranded. throttle response became non-linear, burning electrical smell, then throttle went limp. towed to dealer. happened at night so no idea if any exhaust smoke. egr cooler failure, internal leak. coolant getting into intake manifold. out of warranty, no goodwill. repairs were $1150 cdn/$850 US. Cooling system was 4L low. Did a preventative oil change. seems all good. as soon as any of these symptoms appear, check coolant level/arrange for tow. looked up repair procedure, could easily have done this myself in about 3-4 hrs. part is around $100, rest all pretty basic labour. next time anything happens just gonna tow to my house instead of a $155/hr dealership. CAA covers towing and 2 days rental car anyways.
Sad part, good friend from road racing days is area service manager for 3-4 Ford dealerships. Called him first and he recommended towing to dealership he was visiting anyways next day. Service dept. was given heads up that night by him. First call next morning was 10am, 3 hrs past opening with a ''so what's this about?'' next call came at 330 pm after I contacted said friend again. So 2 days at dealership, then ''your car is done'' phone call came at 545pm, 15 minutes before closing. And the cooling system is severely overfilled, will deal with it myself.
