I finally got this EGR bug deflector installed. Still not sure if I like it, but it’s starting to grow on me.

Thank you for posting this, it really helps visualize the actual look.

I think I’m just going to have some flat black vinyl installed like a deflector.

I like that it is raised off the hood like that. Is it a bolt on, or a stick on?

it Screws on, clips have to be placed on the hood and the deflector is attached to the clips. They supply protective tape that is placed between the hood and the clips so it doesn’t hurt the paint.

Oh, that is a little weird. I have a deflector on my Ranger that screws on under the lip of the hood, and that's enough to hold it in place. No part touches the hood paint on the top or front edge.

The official Ford hood protector is a lot better looking IMO. However, some folks prefer these raised models that don't actually stick onto the hood. To each his own.

Thanks for the actual pic. I saw this on Realtruck. Then I saw the install video for an F-150. Nope. I really wish someone would make a flat/matte black, smooth-finish, flush-mount deflector.

Fyi, can't speak for this brand but normally these with metal clips wiggle around enough to cut through the mylar and then take out the paint.
Highway driving and car washes speed up the process

My 2005 Sport Trac would agree. I had a similar one on it for over 10 years, the front hood edge looked BAD under the bugshield.

I went with the Aeroskin2, discontinued one, on my Maverick and love it. Keeps everything, bugs and rocks, from hitting my Windshield. Already replaced my Windshield 12 days after buying the truck, before the Aeroskin, from a rock crack.

Really wish they hadn’t discontinued it, it’s the only one I wanted.

You might check local Ford dealers. Mine just happened to have them in stock while I was there, though that was last May.

I installed the EGR MATTE BLACK SUPERGUARD BUG SHIELD today and I have a question for anyone else who has installed one. The instructions say at step 3:

At the previously noted scrivet locations carefully remove the scrivets attaching the hood seal and discard.

And then at step 4"

Fit the nut insert into the square hole on top of the two Fixed Clip. Install the two Fixed Clips by aligning them with the previously noted holes in the hood. Insert the Screw Plugs through the rectangular holes of the Fixed Clips into the hood. While pushing the Screw Plug down against the Fixed Clip insert the two self-tapping screws into the Screw Plugs. Put the hood seal back into
position.

Unless I am missing something, there is nothing about how to secure the hood seal after attaching the fixed clip. I can't find a video of the installation on a Maverick. The F150 video shows the self tapping screw passing through an existing hole in the hood seal, but the Maverick doesn't have that those holes. The Maverick hood seal is attached with an internal scrivet that was removed in step 3. There is no hole through the hood seal for the screw. Are you supposed to create a hold where the scrivet used to be? What am I missing?
