Easy to remove topper?

Are truck toppers easy to put on and take off.only need it when traveling and dont want it on all the time.does any water to amount to much get into the bed with the topper on?

I wouldnt want to take off and on a hardshell topper

A softtopper is easy and is designed tofold down

I've had hard toppers on two trucks (larger than the Maverick). The mechanics of putting them on and off was not that complicated. But they were heavy! I don't remember any serious water leakage though.

The hard tops are all pretty similar in the way they mount to the truck. The hard part is usually lifting it off (once you have removed the bolts) and storing the topper when not in use.

One idea is to build a hoist/hanger in your garage. The idea is that you unbolt the top, slides some straps under it (possibly with 2x4 cross-bars) , then use the straps to lift it up to the ceiling. You can even use a small winch to do most of the work for you. You can store it there until you are ready to re-install, then you just lower it back into place, remove the straps, and bolt it down again.

Plenty of Jeep Wrangler owners do something like that to make it easy to remove a hard top without requiring a helper, and it takes care of the storage problem, too. Search around a bit and you can find some good examples. Of course, you need a suitable garage.

Well i have a hoist in the ceiling of the shop and that sounds like a great idea.i may try a regular button down cover like my lightning has on it.i took a garden hose to it yesterday and it didnt leak unless i forced it in certain areas
