Does Adding Additional Drive Modes Disable Auto Stop/Start?

I've playing with Forscan lately and got around to adding the eco and sport modes to my FX4. They work great. But, ever since then, the truck has never stopped the engine at a red light. I admittedly haven't driven it enough to test this thoroughly, but it seems to not do so at times when previously it did stop. In reading about adding the additional modes, I vaguely recall someone thinking it did disable the auto stop/start. (Search gets me lost in all the talk about the auto s/s feature, not its possible connection to adding the drive modes.) I can see that it would and should not stop the engine for sport mode (quick off the line!), but you'd think in eco it would.

This question is not about the value of the auto stop/start, and no, I did not even touch that setting in Forscan. I would just like someone to confirm (or not) whether they have experienced auto stop/start after enabling eco and/or sport mode on an FX4. Thanks.

Nope. Adding modes doesn't disable auto start stop.

You can add a screen on your instrument cluster to show you the status of the system and why it's not turning off. It's likely because the state of charge on your battery is 70% or less. Just drive it more and it should start turning off again.

That would explain it--I've had it on Forscan (i.e., on but not running) a lot these days so the battery has been taxed a bit. Thanks!

That's great insight. I need to check into this too. I haven't been bothered by auto start/stop as much as I thought I would, but I have noticed that it doesn't kick in until I've been driving for little while. I recently saw something in forscan myself about battery charge level limits, and mine was set from the factory at 80%. If the auto start/stop won't kick on until it's over 70%, that all starts to align with it not engaging this feature for short periods after starting.

I made the same change to my FX4 yesterday along with the auto stop elimination. It is working as I intended. I believe you should start your query by checking the auto stop setting with FORScan.
