Do we have to shut down and lock Maverick with the key button?

I found when I lock the Maverick with the lock button on the drivers door, left and close the door, the door locked, but the headlight and bed light are still on, have to press the lock button on the key then it did shut down.

So weird, even I pull out the key, still cannot shut down the power?

Delay off is to give you time to walk into your house. They turn off on their own in a few seconds.

99% of people lock their vehicles with the fob only when out in public or already in their house. Thus the instant off when using that method.

They should stay on as courtesy lamps and then shut off with a timer, the keyfob locks override the timer.

Mine stay on for right at 30-seconds

As others said, they time out and soon go off. If you prefer they go off immediately, use the fob. If you worry about battery drain; I've read on here, but have no proof, that hitting the fob lock button twice will shut down more battery-draining electronics on the Hybrid, than not locking or only hitting lock once. I have no proof at all this helps, but I do double-lock and have not had any low battery issues others have had.

If you don't like the horn honk upon double-lock, go Settings in the instrument cluster display (scroll to truck icon w/steering wheel buttons).

1. Go to Vehicle Settings> LOCKS>Mislock.
2. Uncheck: mislock chirp (honk).
