DIY Vinyl tailgate letters - how do they hold up?

I've seen a few posts here where people have used a Cricut to make their own vinyl tailgate letters. I've got the svg file and it's on my wife's honey-do list to cut some for me. My question is, for those who have done this and have had them on the Mav for a few seasons, how well does the vinyl hold up (any fading, cracking, peeling, etc.?) Also, are there any brands of vinyl that you've found hold up better than others? We've done a few small vinyl projects but nothing that gets exposed to the elements.

Personally, I would not use vinyl tape. It would be very difficult to get them lined up properly. The ones I used were matte plastic with an adhesive backing. The stiffness of the material made installation rather easy. Holding up very well.

Agree. Mine have been on 3 years, have gone through many car washes, and still look great.

Get the Tufskinz ones. Put them on my Mav last week. Pevious were on my Tacoma for 5 years and still looked like the day they were put on. Many colors to choose from.

I put on some obviously Cricket cut vinyl letters bought on Etsy. I've had no issues with them peeling up at all.
