deposits and markups..

in the past, I was never required to put down a deposit to order a vehicle. regardless of brand. now it seams that most dealers in the Austin area wants to hold your money, some are non refundable. plus the dealer added options and markups..
then they wonder why people would rather order direct from the factory and just have a network of factory authorized service centers.
my last purchase took me over 3 hours to get a deal and I know I was still ripped off.

I put a deposit down on mine that went towards the cost. No additions or markups.

My dealer in east Tennessee did not ask for any deposit at all. I was waiting to order a Maverick because I assumed there was a deposit I wanted to test drive one before I put money down. But when the order cutoff date was announced in January I called my dealer to ask about the process, and was surprised to hear him say there was no deposit, no obligation.

$500 deposit and a receipt showing it goes toward the purchase of the Maverick I ordered. Will be refunded if I don't buy the vehicle.
