I placed an order for XLT hybrid, lux, copilot, floor liners, and splash guards on Nov 12. Received the DORA/build sheet a few days later along with the email confirmation from Ford.

I saw a post on here of pictures of the splash guards and didn't like the lack of coverage of the rear guards, they don't cover the inside of the wheel well.
I contacted my dealer at the beginning of December and requested that the splash guards be removed. A few days later the dealer said that the guards were removed, I asked if there was a new DORA for the build and they said there is no new DORA but Ford accepted the change.

Being that I ordered in November and all of the constraints on the lux and copilot, I was concerned my build would roll over to MY23. At the end of February, I requested my dealer to remove the lux and copilot and add a full-size spare. The dealer confirmed that they will do that. I expected to get an email with the new DORA. I waited a week then asked my dealer if the changes were made. They responded that the changes were made and asked if I would like the new DORA. I don't know why I was asked if I wanted the new DORA. Just send it to me. So, I responded yes, send it.

I get the DORA right away. Lux and copilot are removed the full-size spare is added, aaaand the splash guards are still on the build. I contact the dealer and ask why the guards are still on the build, reminding them of the request in December to remove them. Reply from the dealer was that they tried to remove them in December but it was rejected by Ford. From the dealer "This hopefully means your vehicle is being considered for a build date if does not get selected I can apply to remove the splash guards again in a few days."

Why is this so difficult? I just want to remove the splash guards. I guess I will keep bothering them to remove them, "in a few days."

Edit: The dealer called on March 4th and they were able to remove them. All is good.

I know there is a cost for the mud flaps. I have them and they do look good. You can take them off and then sell them . You just need to buy some plugs to fill the holes.

With what is going on with Ford and the world, I would just live with the build. Skip lunch for 12 days during the time you will have to wait for the build and that will pay for the mud flaps. 😬

Agree with @ValenciaOrange. Sounds like you have selected one of the many loser dealerships.
