After waiting for the Maverick after ordering it back in August, I picked it up today. So far so good. I test drove my neighbor's 23 Lariat Hybrid and a 24 XLT last year. I believe this 25 is much quieter and smoother a ride. I am use to driving a Tesla Y and the comparison of these two points is either the Maverick is either equal to or better than. but there are somethings that I noticed right away that I did know or could research prior.
The first is the Ford Pass lags miles behind the Tesla even though the maverick has been in production for a few years. First is the bare essential data provided by the Ford Pass compared to the Tesla Y App. I can open Frunk, windows, trunk, charge port, check tire pressure, but it in dog mode and more from miles away if needed. Ford Pass... I can start it, lock it, unlock it. Ford, take a lesson from Tesla on this one and get on par, then get ahead by figuring out a way to tie the Nav Computer to the directional signals, no one is doing this but should.
I am still getting use to the onboard systems so I can't/won't comment on them. I am familiar with the Lane keeping and advanced cruise control systems that seem a lot like the Subaru (wife's former car), haven't used it but will tomorrow. I started playing with the radio but will pend part of the day getting the fine tuning of the computer setup done.
I like the seats, well my driver's seat. Comfortable and easy to adjust. Wish it had driver profiles and the passenger seat was as well. Lumbar is a great advance for me compared with my 89 F250 work truck. I did notice that the seat sits a bit low making uphill a little blind on the crests. But I will get use to it.
The controls for the AC/Heater/Defogger on the bottom of the screen IMO are pretty nice compared to the Tesla. I always feel I am spending too much time looking at the Tesla screen figuring out the controls. I say that not because I only drive the Tesla occasionally (its her car), but I watch her struggle with it too. many of the control features that are alway one movement away are so much better than multiple screens.
I also want to ding Ford for the interior colors... not much of a selection for the inside. I choose the Desert Sand only because when I built the car it was the only color that looked good with the interior. That blue is alright with my choice but a medium brown would look much better as well as with the Red and Green paint.
And no buyers regret here (yet) on the minor things I picked at, but its the small things that make a good car a great car. I have a few after market things I think would sell. Interior swap outs for the color, woody packages for the sides, and a plug in for the battery.
