I got my Tremor back today after having the CVF Intercooler installed. I had a local mechanic that came recommended from the guy that did my downpipe. From what I gather from our conversations is that it was a bit of a pain in the ass. From what I can see after, I am glad I had someone do it for me. I would of hated doing it myself while hoped up on pain meds. But anyway, I can say that I am going to have to be more conscience about approaching anything since the intercooler is now the leaning edge of the lower bumper. the unit seems robust enough to handle random road debris so not worried about that. I may eventually de-badge it and put a non-angled bumper on.
Operationally, I have noticed that the lower gear upshifts seem a lot smoother since it has a lot more breathable air to draw from while under acceleration. The stock unit seems like a tic-tac compared to the new one. I just got it put in, a fresh tank of 93 and a fresh reflash and will post more thoughts about it as my week progresses. Attached are a few photos of the install.

Thanks for sharing! I have always wondered what that intercooler would look like on a tremor. The shop that did the install did a great job trimming for fitment. It looks great.

I would be very uneasy about the lack of protection up front in offroad conditions. Maybe consider a small custom made bull bar?

I don't think it would look right with the tremor bumper. It's going to stick out too far down low and leave a gap since it's designed for the nontremor bumper. Plus you lose the high approach angle! If you want it to look clean without losing your high approach angle, you may have to go custom. I would consider a minimalist design that looks a lot like the applications they put on police cars. Here is an example that @WhteRbtObj installed on their truck:

Holy schnikes! Awesome, but dang! Your next move needs to be going to get a custom brush guard designed around that. Any good fabricator could some up with something nice. I would stick with thicker aluminum tubing between the tow hooks and the intercooler and do a loop around the intercooler, then extend the skid plate up to meet it and get ahead of it but without the tubing going much below it. Then some aluminum expanded metal for the face and some nice low profile fog lights on the top tube. Steel would be easier, but will rust eventually and you already got that alloy look going.

Thanks man. I was actually hoping you would chime in. There's another blue Mav, here in the forums, with a bar I like that has lights, but it attaches where the tow hooks are. I would like something like that but have the area where that guy has the lights to be open and around the intercooler. And yeah, maybe some smaller lights on the topside. You wouldn't happen to know any fabricators here in the area, would you? I saw an old post about you doing some stuff around Xenia. I figured you know the area. All my work on my Mav has been through word of mouth and I haven't been disappointed.

I can't say I know of anybody anymore back there. Been out here on Maui for 10 years now. If you are ever up on old RT 40 there is a good friend named Jason Selner working at Hilltop Auto near New Carlisle. He's been working on cars his whole professional life and has done some custom stuff before. He could have some insight on a project like that or know where to point you. Also anyone who has a racecar at their shop would be a good person to ask. There is a shop on that main road going south west out of Xenia towards Spring Valley that looked like they did custom stuff.

I had that blue Maverick with the bull bars with lights in my head when I saw your setup.

Hey Marjammer, can you tell me if this install required any cutting, trimming or mods to any structural metal such as the radiator mount? Or was the trimming only necessary on the plastic surrounding the OEM intercooler and also the lower bumper valance?

That’s a very clean install job by your mechanic👍.

I could see why a larger intercooler would help.
During slow off road speeds in desert heat. I always wondered if some type of fan system would work.
