Circling back to this.. have read different feedback from RealTruck and Rough Country. Have been told different things as far as not having to cut into the truck.

what’s the final verdict here? Looking to spend $250 max on soft trifold cover and not too picky on the brand. Was looking to avoid cutting but the instructions for both appear to require cutting into the truck bed.

I had that almost identical cover at least style anyway on my two f-150s both were ex-stang soft fold trifectas. The clamps near the cab tighten down with clamps like the Gator, and near the bed of the truck they're just spring release handles that fit over the plastic bed caps as well as capturing some of the sheet metal.

No need to trim the bed cap. They were simple to install and just as easy to remove.
