Mine came on at 18k, the dealer replaced the engine wire harness. I still have the CEL. Dealer said they need to change the overflow coolant reservoir. I'm guessing they replaced the wire harness for nothing. My dad has the CEL on his Maverick. They told him its the catalytic converter and they're waiting for the part. Both of our Mavs drive fine but man, what's the deal with the CEL's?

Mine came on at around 8k miles. 2 trips to the dealer, new part installed, came on the next day. This seems to be an issue with every Ford truck I have ever owned dating back to my first Ranger in 1989. Every one of them ran fine and mileage never suffered. I will give Ford one more try before I put a piece of black tape over it. These are triggered mostly by emissions equipment so as long as the performance and mileage don't suffer, there is more often than not no need to race to the dealer.

I don't know what the vehicle inspection policy is in your state, in Texas the vehicle would not pass with an active MIL indicator.

In our county in Pa., the emissions test consists solely of testing the seal of the gas cap. It is ludicrous as more populated counties have real emissions inspections. But for now, it is not a problem. So Ford gets one more chance before the tape comes out! Don't worry though, I WILL use 3M, not some Chinese knockoff tape!

As long as its under warranty ill keep taking it back til its gone. Probably a dummy light but trying to sell it down the road with a CEL would suck.

At 64, this is my last new truck so resale doesn't matter to me.

Sorry to hear that this will be the last truck you will ever buy new.

Please don't be sorry. I figure I am good for about 20 more years barring any catastrophes and I plan to make the Maverick last as long as I do!
