Here's my story
Six years ago I bought a used Honda Civic EX for $13.5k in South Jersey as that is where I lived at the time. When I bought is I knew I would pass it down to my youngest one as her first vehicle. I liked it so much I was going to buy a new Civic hatchback.
Fast forward to last year. We decided to move from NJ to NC to escape the high taxes, cold weather, and all other NJ things. Moved to Charlotte, NC and I work from home from now on. Bought a mountain bike and enjoy riding it and it's great for exercise. So once I saw the news of the Maverick last summer and thinking of buying a new car I got interested. Right now I load my bike on my son's Hyundai Accent's roof rack. Being able to load it into the bed of the truck would be more convenient plus all the other times a truck comes in handy. When they announced that the hybrid dealers would be cut off, I decided to go to the local Ford dealer and place an order. Build a hybrid XLT with the lux package and moonroof. Put down a $500 "partial payment", non-refundable. This was October 23rd. I didn't get the confirmation email from Ford within a week so I had to call the dealer back a few times until I finally got to talk to the internet order guy and got the email November 5th.
At the same time we are building a house down here. We sold the house in NJ at the end of June and have been living in an Airbnb since then. Original house completion date was supposed to be end of July, then got moved back to end of November, and now they are saying end of February. So I am used to waiting. it sucks but it will get done when it gets done just like the Maverick. It just happened that we are doing this at the wort of times but i think it will be worth it at the end.
