I need to replace a rear panel yet every video and every post about it online has conflicting info, even within the same said posts. Lots say its spot welded, lots say its not, fords guide says there is, yet theres videos saying that's not the case. then said posts just happen to not show that stage of the repair process.

everything looks straight forward for me to do, but any kind of welding is out of my expertise.

so whats the reality of it?

Have you checked out this thread?

(50) DIY Quarter Panel Replacement - So Fun | MaverickTruckClub - 2022+ Ford Maverick Pickup Forum, News, Owners, Discussions

Looks to be bolt on (unless I am misunderstanding your question).

Ive seen that, that was one of those posts with conflicting information. also that post leaves out the fact that exact truck has had that panel replaced more than once. its on youtube. (thinking skipped weld part during the former repair).

The alleged spot weld is behind the tail light. Remove the 2 tail light screws and check.

But it's one single spot weld. If I found it on mine, I would probably drill it out and replace it with a blind rivet🤷‍♂️

(not my video)

ive seen that too, then another video shows them just cutting the seam sealer...what he points towards at the 35 second mark and it just comes off with no regard to the weld.

but if thats all it is.... might as well just skip the weld, or rivet like you said. you are right though... il pop off my tailight and look.
