We have had the Maverick for over 3 weeks and absolutely love it! It does everything we need it to do and more! However, i have two complaints: 1. The sunglasses holder is garbage. The plastic lid catches and its a two stage process to open it. 2. towing mileage is terrible. 24 l per 100km. Of course that was with some strong headwinds. Also, I never felt the brake controller do much even though the gain was set to 5.5. First time towing caused it to smell like melting plastic and It downshifted a lot. Mileage empty is excellent. I was getting 7.1l per 100 km. Here are some pictures that show what we were towing.

Cool stuff! What's the overall weight of your camper? Headwind would def make it a little rough for the truck.

I routinely get 21 mpg in my 6-cyl Expedition, but when I pull my camper I drop to 10 or 11. It's all about wind resistance. So I'm not surprised your mpl dropped.
Is that camper a little heavy for the maverick? I thought the tow max was 2,000 lb or something....

I am pretty sure that's a 3200 pound trailer, right????

That frontal load looks to be more than the 40/42 suggests ? Thx for the update

There is pamphlet that suggests 40 square feet but it's not in the manual. Do I am probably not voiding the warranty right?

Have no idea but doubt towing that would affect warranty on anything. Cheers -

What happens in the trailer stays in the trailer… or something like that. Don’t go volunteering information. Stealerships will sometimes use any excuse.

Is that 2900 empty? And with the wind drag that profile will produce, you will absolutely tank your FE, especially in a strong head wind.

Given all that, I'd say 24l/100km was pretty good.

Oops sorry, I thought you had the hybrid. Yeah, ECO with tow package should handle that okay.

Having said that, I have found I really have to drive like an old man to get anywhere decent mileage when I'm towing a camper with a high profile like that.

I've done 3 trips now with our 2700lb trailer and the worst economy I've seen is 12.8l/100km into a headwind and that included a 12.5 km climb of 8% gradient.
Also, if you haven't done so already check with your dealer about the recall on the brake controller.
