It might be that it is waiting for a chip? That there was some issue that needs to be fixed? Or involved in a recall that they will fix before they release it to be shipped?

Most of the time vehicles from our dealership were "on hold" it was because they were waiting for some chip. Those have all been resolved now though.

I don't think I can check on any of that for a VIN from another dealership, otherwise I would try to figure out what is going on for you!
thanks for the info. It’s a hybrid Maverick that is affected by the recall but right now it’s at a auto shipping yard so I assume they wouldn’t be able to fix any of the issues there.

My August Maverick order was built April 13 and shipped shortly thereafter. Was estimated to be delivered up here to Canada in mid May pushed a few times and finally by early June, Ford tracker updated to say it was delivered to my dealer. I stopped by the dealer since they’re close by but the only Maverick there was not the one I ordered, VIN was off by two digits from my VIN. Salesman later goes on to tell me the shipping company switched my order. Three weeks later and still no truck, no updates… is my order lost? Have called Ford Canada and they have been completely useless. What else can be done?
Do not know about Canada but if it's ever insured in US the vin number is on a national database and it can be found. Of course if someone doesn't verify vin it could not be found. So need to check for both vin nums.

That is strange. Usually the "holds" and not being "released" occur at the plant, not after it is given to the shipper. So I really don't know what could be going on. Hopefully you'll get your Maverick soon! I got my hybrid Maverick 2 months ago and am happy!

Thanks for the input. Agree it doesn't make any sense that the vehicle is on hold now since it's already left the plant. Hopefully it arrives soon. This is week 13 since shipping.

Your truck exists. It has a VIN. It came off the factory line, and is likely on a train, on a transport, or sitting in someone's garage, but it does exist. Because you have a VIN, try running an Autocheck or Carfax on your vehicle--I don't know of the Canadian alternative. Worth a try.

Shipping has been strange lately. We have some vehicles that get here a day or two after they are built. Others that usually ship fast are waiting at the plant for months. Some also sit for a long time at the shipping yard (an hour away) before they get here. Hard to guess what is going on w/ each individual vehicle!
