Broken clips and posts
Im sure many Ford Maverick Owners have removed the molding on many places in their truck.
My experience putting in front and rear speakers resulted in several clips and posts breaking. I watched many videos, and no matter how careful I was there were many clips, that would not come out with out breaking. In addition, there were several clips that I could never release.
I had to buy several new panels, and tried to use WB plastic weld with no luck. I thought the broken clip was fixed, but it fell off once I tried to install the moulding.
There are several clips that have prongs that dig into the moulding post. When you carefully try to remove a panel the prongs rip the plastic post, and the post no longer will stay in place when replacing it.
When I was replacing the rear speakers in my truck, the top posts were almost impossible to get out. I watched a video, and after a struggle I got the top posts to release. The posts were now loose. I used some glue on them because the tear was minor. When I did the other side no matter how hard I struggled I could not get the top two posts to release, even thou I took a picture of the other side, and the speaker grill posts.
I did manage to install the other speaker.
When your truck is repaired by Ford you will not know if they broke a clip or post. The mechanic most like will replace the moulding, and you wont know if a clip is broken until you hear a rattle or notice the panel is loose.
I know someone will say they had no problem removing the moulding without breaking a clip or post. All I am writing is to tell you to be extremely careful when removing the moulding. Check your truck after it is repaired. There will be some broken posts and clips.
