The brake service mode issue with the early hybrids has been touched on in previous threads, but I felt it worthwhile to post my experience to help prevent potential headaches for others doing their own maintenance.
My early 22 hybrid has been inconsistent with this mode. Once it went into service and out with no issues. Once it wouldn't enter it at all. Today it activated but wouldn't deactivate after changing the rear brakes. Forscan to the rescue, but it would have been a real PITA without it, as brake service mode effectively disables the vehicle until it's switched off.
Strongly suggest having a plan "B" if you use this mode.
Cheers.
