My truck is a 24 XLT hybrid with 360, and my phone is a Pixel 6a running Android 14.
About a week ago, I noticed that the truck audio screen showed "pair a phone" on the screen instead of my phone's name, in the few seconds before it connected to Android Auto (using a generic AA wireless adaptor). The AA adaptor still works fine normally, but when I unplug it, my phone again is still not connected to Bluetooth. I know the truck's Bluetooth isn't required for the adaptor, but it definitely is a change from how it used to work. Rebooted the head unit, no change. Deleted the connection on my phone and the truck and re-paired it successfully... once.
Quite possibly related: it has also started showing me a disclaimer that it might be sharing some data and making me click "OK".
As far as I know the truck hasn't been updated (I have not connected it to my home WiFi and I have not brought it in for service, so if it did update it was using it's cell connection.)

I had a similar issue with my Apple phone. Turning the phone off and then back on solved it. Good Luck!

  • Remove the Pixel's bluetooth connection from it & the truck.
  • Check for updates in your truck's Infotainment System & the Pixel.
  • With truck OFF, reboot your Pixel.
  • Turn on Bluetooth in the phone.
  • Restart the truck & reboot the Infotainment system.
  • Pair the phone's bluetooth with the truck
  • If above works, go into the Pixel's Permission settings for the truck's bluetooh connection & turn off anything you don't wish to share, like Contacts, Call History, etc.
Also, if for some reason you turn Bluetooth off/on in your phone, make sure it's always ON before starting the truck, even if you're going to use A/A.

That's roughly what I did, but I'll try it following your way in detail.
Thanks

Also, how do I check for updates in the truck? And if it did update, did it update over the truck's cell connection? I never enabled WiFi.

In the Infotainment System Settings, look under Auto-update.

Any luck with this? I'm having the exact same issue starting at the same time as you. Can only connect Bluetooth by unpairing everything and repairing from scratch. Have to do that every time I start the truck

Nope, though TBF I haven't tried everything suggested quite yet.

I know you said you've done some sort of test of the adapter, but I've been using a Motorola for 2 years and I've not experienced that level of problems. There are the occasional weird glitches, but they always resolve on their own. I'd get the Motorola adapter.

I don't know ... My issue was when I am *not* using the AA adapter. The regular XLT system wouldn't connect.
I say "wouldn't" because yesterday, without me doing anything, it started working again. So presumably either the truck or my phone got another update that fixed it.

I'm having the same issue with my 23 lariat. I use the Motorola AA but even without that plugged in the Bluetooth won't reconnect the last few weeks.

I have a Samsung s24 ultra, and others with that phone report the same issue but maybe it is both the phone and the maverick

And the AA does not work since the Bluetooth doesn't connect, it's very annoying

Hmm, I'm pretty sure your AA adaptor doesn't use the *trucks* bluetooth (it's plugged in via USB). It does need your *phones* bluetooth*. So I am guessing something went wonky on your phone's bluetooth if it won't connect to either.
For me, the AA adaptor always worked; it was just that the phone didn't connect with the truck (for if I *wasn't* using AA). It wasn't a problem per se (except the annoying popups), it just wasn't right.

* The AA adaptor connects with your phone by Bluetooth but only uses that connection to start a wifi connection for the actual audio stream. Wifi has much higher throughput than bluetooth, which is why even a cheap AA adapter sounds better than the direct Bluetooth connection to your truck's entertainment system.

While the past couple weeks my phone would still be saved to the car as a former Bluetooth connection, yesterday I had to re add my phone each time I started the mav. Very strange, I'll have to see if it's the same today. If so my next call is the dealership service center

If you haven't already done so, completely remove all bluetooth device connections from your truck. In the phone reset your network connections. In Android settings, search for "Reset" and choose "Network."

Check both phone & truck infotainment system for updates.

Reboot the phone and reboot the truck's Infotainment System. This has helped some people with wireless connection weirdness.
