I just got Toyo Open Country AT3s on in 245/65R17. I've driven like 3 miles and so far so good. They're 34 lbs a pop compared to 25 on the FX4 Pirellis.

Taking the truck to Olympic National Park for the weekend so we'll see if I get to take it offroad much...

My outback has a set of 225/65/17s wild peaks trails that I'm moving over to the Mav. They should give it a great look but not hurt the mpg too much keeping the stock size. I've loved them on the outback as well.

Why is weight important? Rolling resistance? You're not pedalling a bicycle.
Lol. Weight of a tire is important for so many reasons. Just google that question you asked.

We don't have any snow here in Hawaii but it's good to have tires that can handle a little off-roading once in a while. I have a FWD XLT that my truck buddies call the "pavement princess".

I've purchased the BF Goodrich Trail Terrain T/A which gives good on-road driving and offers good performance and is very quiet. Upgraded the width a little to 235/65/17s. Black letters out. You all should read the reviews . . . it's a great tire!

I've been eyeing those! Been going back and forth between these and the Toyo open country ones at 245/65/17... But I'll probably only go off-road a few times a year and it won't be that crazy. So maybe these trail terrains are the way to go since I'll be on the road most of the time. I do live in Northern Utah so we have snow 5 or 6 months a year. I assume they'll do just fine in the snow after seeing some reviews!

BFgoodrich KO2 is kinda the gold standard for all terrain tires. They last forever too.

I've heard good things about the trail terrains also. Seems to be a slightly less aggressive option
