The purpose of the bug guard isn't to protect against bugs-- it's to protect the Mav's windshield from rocks. Every bit of height in the hover-over-the-hood guards helps on that front.I'm not a fan of those black or smoked plastic ones that hover over the hood because they tend to trap debris and pine needles and such, but your mileage may vary.
I wonder if there are any studies on that. I would think that the raised lip on the trailing edge of the AVS Bugflector would create an air curtain that could lift smaller bugs over the windshield, but that a rock that is strong enough to chip or break the glass would probably be traveling too fast and/or be too heavy to be affected by the bug deflector's air curtain. The purpose of the bug guard isn't to protect against bugs-- it's to protect the Mav's windshield from rocks.
Where did you get this bug guard? I don't see it on the Ford.com site. ThanksFord

Looks like the oem ford one with the maverick letters for the tailgate added on.Where did you get this bug guard? I don't see it on the Ford.com site. Thanks
I just got the same one a few weeks ago. It’s the same one as the AVS version and maybe even the old Lund versions. Husky took over the AVS line. When I was installing it, I dropped one of the pins under the hood. It sounded like it fell all the way to the splash guard. After pulling the splash guard and never finding the pin, I contacted Husky via their service bot and they processed a warranty claim to send me four new pins. All the emails came from Husky except the warranty order acknowledgment which came from Lund international. Then when the shipping occurred, I said it was shipped by Auto VentShade. So even though husky is running the show now, it seems a lot of the original AVS and Lund infrastructure is still in place.I've installed this one from Husky. It has a raised edge that in theory will deflect some bugs / debris over the cab and may help a little with the fuel economy. In truth, it probably doesn't make much of a difference other than protecting the front edge of the hood.
I like it because it mounts using the existing weather stripping holes and doesn't touch the hood other than the underside mounting points. Nothing to stick, nothing to wear against the paint.
