Best bed configurations - let's hear/see yours

I have the Sentry hard rolling cover. For me, it was what I had available and it actually worked almost perfectly. 2x6 boards across. They had to be trimmed to fit the spray in liner and the Ford logo in the front of the bed. The plywood is 3/4 in 2x4 (I had a 2x8 piece). Plywood was painted and a piece of carpet placed on top for protection.
The plywood is held in place with lag bolts cut so they do not go through the bottom.
Initially I had another 2x4 plywood piece and 2x6 board, but it was a lot of my bins were too tall to fit underneath, so I removed them. Easily put back if needed.
The black bin is a police bin from a Crown Vic P-71. It is just the right size. It does touch the boards, but it helps keep everything in place.

Are you saying your convertible has more space in the trunk than the Maverick bed? I think the Maverick has close to 3x more "functional" enclosed space than my old Corolla's trunk (IIRC, it's about 2x the volume) since it's basically a big box that allows for stacking (the trunk was so curved off from the wheel wells that nothing ever really fit in it).

Anyway, this is the basic setup I used for a 2 week road trip earlier in August:

The space closest to the tailgate was used for a rolling 65qt cooler, three backpacks, and a 95L duffel. The green panniers were used for bike gear and odds/ends. I also was able to get a tripod, bike floor pump, and three fishing poles to fit in the top level. I usually keep a 2x3 divider on the near floor slot , but removed it for extra space/easy access. I would like to do something with the 2 2x4s to make it more of a "shelf" they slide in their slots a bit, and the luggage can fall through pretty easily.

When the 2x6s are in the place it is limited space without opening the cover. I have a 33qt cooler that barely fits in the Mustang and takes up most of the space infront of the 2x6s in the Maverick. Just think of easy shopping without opening the cover. Really need it about 1 ft deeper or so. I do like the box you put at the front. I was think of something that I could put down quickly like the 2x6s in case I need something big to fit on a whim.

This is what I came up with. It does rest in the front 2x6 spot but is still movable forward and back but can flip up. Bonus points if you can identify the piece I am using. Still a work in progress. Amazing what you can find in your basement.

I picked up about 12 inches in depth over the wood inserts which fixed my frustration. I can reach back comfortably from the ground and reach everything.
