Bambeds sits 10" above the bed, approx. 3" above the wheel wells. Can lower with no loss of width- just need to clear the wheel wells.

Why does yours look different? Are those sliding drawers? Even the feet for the tailgate extensions are different.

Man truck bed accessories are expensive. So many of the items I see here are just ridiculously lricesnwhen compared to similar non-truck items.

Eg.
The more expensive solid wood/hard wood futon frames I am seeing in a search are like $500-$600 and many come with a mattress.

Isnt this just a much smaller, truck specific, futon frame? I wonder what the profit margin is on this at $799 retail %400 maybe.

Man I used to think trucks were a utility vehicle with a nitch crowd who tricks them out. Post maverick order I'm starting to think they are much like a large form of jewelry for many and feeling like they are utility for a nitch.

Bambeds sits entirely on the front-to-back runners at 10" above bed. Mine is approx 7" above and sits partially on the wheel wells.

Also attached drawers to the front-to-back runners for convenient storage (Bambed is just open space). Good for storage but break down is much more involved than with the BamBeds. But as it is 7" lower, I plan to keep it in almost all the time.

BamBeds used interlocking pieces, like a jigsaw puzzle, to hold it together. Great if you take the time to design it and have a CNC machine. I just drilled some holes and used dowels. Note the support feet for the extension over the tailgate are very similar.

High quality water resistant baltic birch plywood is ~ $140 for a 4x8 sheet. I used one sheet for most of the top plus about another third sheet of lesser quality for the runners. The premium is for the clever design and the use of an expensive CNC to cut the panels. In addition, for my design The drawers (especially the drawer slides) add another $300.
