I have the BakFlip MX4 on my Ranger coming up on 2 years now and like it a lot. By this time (2 years) my Pace Edwards roll top on my F150 already had a broken lock and leaked water. That roll top was inoperable by year 4. I have a feeling this MX4 will still be in excellent condition at the 4 year mark based on how it is going so far.

Glad to hear, that is the one I want to go with Bakflip MX4.

That def. Looks quality, but I'm not gonna pay those prices.
I think the rolling hard top is listed at 888 now, looks competitive. I'll revisit once Hermesillo ever builds my XL.

Doesn't look like it locks.
Side rails come cover the entire length when the cover is fully unrolled and depressed into place.
I'm a fan of this design, simple, doesn't use a lot of space rolled up, and it sits nice and flush. The Ford soft trifold sticks up quite a bit and so the aesthetics are poor IMO.
Jessica, the only problem I have with this is that the top is completely covered in vinyl versus the BAK MX4 flip cover where it is powder coated aluminum. Southwest sun is tough on vinyl.

Worth considering,, as far as price comparison goes, if you find a 4% under invoice dealer (I went with Tom at Chapman) the price for the hard roll-up comes to around $1040. For me, that extra $50-60 is worth it to have the truck just how I want it from day one.
Five year warranty if you buy from BAK, three year for the factory.

But with a factory installed BAK, you're also paying for the install and a warranty where instead of taking pictures and hoping BAK doesn't tell you to go suck an egg, you can bring it to a dealer and have them warranty service it while you're out in a loaner.
BAK has a five year warranty vs the three year factory warranty. BAK has a great reputation for warranty response/service. Both their roll up and flip designs are easy installs.

It does seem expensive, but I have learned (and posted elsewhere on this forum) that Bak doubles the warranty if you order through and have the cover installed by an authorized dealer (there's a locator on their website). If you get that X4S, I know locally I can get it installed for $100, and that doubles the 5 year warranty.

Alternatively, if you chat with the reps on the Bak website, they'll sell you the covers cheaper if you order them directly.

I think I'm gonna see what Tonno , out in Utah, makes. I've had both their Tri Fold hard and soft covers on my F-150's. Both great but I liked the hard cover a little better from a security standpoint. The soft tonneau cover was, at Auto Anything, with my Veterans Discount about $400+ and the hard, with my Discount was either high 4's or low 500"s. it's been about 3-4 years since I got it, oh and I gave my soft cover to a friend for his 150 and after over 4 years of snow country it was still in great shape. So unless my Wife pushes me for the roll up (I kinda like when she pushes me;) I'll get the hard tri fold instead of the roll up (for 400+ bucks less too,)
