Life is too short for all that. While I waited for my hybrid order, placed in late summer 2022, I located a new 22 EB with most of what I wanted [Lariat, sunroof but no lux pkg which I wanted]. I paid $1800 over msrp for invisible dealer add-ons.
Upon notification my hybrid order would be built as a 2024, I sold my 22 EB for a little over what I paid, just about broke even with T+L fees, 8,900 miles of new truck smell.
I got lucky getting a 2024 hybrid because no recalls, no issues and great mpg. I have to admit the 22 EB was a tad bit more satisfying to drive, but I do love my mpg.
We ordered a PHEV SEL Escape in December 2021, produced in late March, and purchased it in May 2022. The biggest issue with this order was waiting over thirty days to travel from the rail drop-off point (thirty miles away) to the dealership by truck. This is my wife's daily driver.
We ordered an XL Maverick Hybrid in July 2021, produced in July, and purchased it in August 2022. I decided I didn't like the Hybrid version, sold it to a MTC member, and ordered number three.
We ordered an XLT Maverick EB AWD in August 2022 and purchased it in January 2023. This is my current daily driver.
It took my son almost two months to return my XLT Maverick EB AWD after he borrowed it to move 450 miles away. He fell in love with it by the time he returned it. Thus, we ordered a 2024 XL Hybrid for him in July 2023.
A Long McArthur Ford in Salina, KS customer decided not to take their 2023 XLT Maverick Hybrid when it arrived. It was the perfect configuration, we struck a deal and purchased it in November 2023.
Although we canceled the 2024 XL Maverick Hybrid order with the dealer, they asked if we would allow them to keep the order in the system (COVP in my name).
Two months ago, my wife declared she wanted my Maverick, to sell her Escape, and I could get anything I wanted. But, I like my Maverick and suggested we take the 2024 XL Hybrid we ordered instead.
Another customer at Long McArthur released the 2024 XL Maverick Hybrid they ordered, and it is close enough to the configuration we ordered that we purchased it in April.
The 2024 XL Hybrid we ordered was produced on 04/24, shipped on 04/25, and arrived at the dealership seven days later (wow... that was fast!).
We will sell the PHEV Escape SEL at the end of the year.
Part of the reason why we pulled the trigger now on the 2024 XL Hybrid is that I am not enamored with the transition to the large vertical screen replacing knobs and buttons. Thus, I don't think I will like the 2025 Maverick when it is revealed.
Plus, we were able to get two good deals from Long McArthur.
In conclusion, I doubt I will ever buy another Stock vehicle off the lot. We found two good dealerships to work with (and there are plenty out there, see the list in the Ordering forum). So, we will place Retail orders if we buy new again, and we are willing to wait until what we want arrives.
