I've got an XLT hybrid. And when I got in it today I went to start it up and I got an error message on the four and a half inch screen. It said something to the effect of an issue with a sensor and I needed to take a heavy object off the passenger seat before proceeding. I was alone in the truck and nothing was on the passenger seat. It started up no problem, but when I got home just for fun I tried again and got the same message. Has anyone heard of this message popping up for no reason?

Happens to me sometimes. It doesn’t seem to do anything.

I'd put that on the dealer check list for your next visit.
Front air bags can be auto disabled with/for a light weight passenger such as a child. If your weight sensor is wonky the air bag could possibly read wrong and deploy full force on a child.

I have not had this issue in the Maverick but I had it happen in a Tacoma. Seat belt warning was going crazy over my backpack being on the seat lol.

Chances are you take it in and they will try to recreate it to no availability, so if it happens again take pics or record a video and then take it in for proof. Unless anyone knows of any TSB's addressing this sort of issue. I do not.
