Any ideas why my kicker hideaway sounds so bad

I hooked up a kicker hideaway by t tapping my right front speaker wires, then connected those to the left and right kicker wire harness. the level input is set to high. Also I do not have the remote base knob I wonder if that might be the issue? It's like the gain doesn't register at first and then about 1/4 of the way up it's so extreme almost like it's gonna blow the speaker... Did anyone else have any issues when they hooked theirs up using the same method? maybe i have faulty equipment?

It's a subwoofer, it's a mono output. If you're only tapping one speaker as a source you should only connect it to one input. Also you have it set for 'Hi' Input Level, correct?

yes its set to Hi. thank you for your suggestion i disconnected one side and it still does it. im going to reach out to kicker support as well.

Did you set it up the right way? Turn the volume all the way up, then adjust the gain and others from there? Mine didn’t sound to good till I did that. I also have the remote bass knob, so not sure why you don’t. It’s very key to have. Also why haven’t you tried it with the remote knob?

thank you for the input yes I have tried adjusting the gain that way. I had to buy a new knob and the one that they sent has the wrong connection on the back it's the old school phone cord instead of the earphone Jack.

oh shit that sucks! I mounted my knob on outside of center arm rest and between seat. Fits perfectly and I finally got it adjusted to where it sounds great. Also where did you mount the kicker and how?

nice good to know that the hideaway will make the truck sound better. I removed the B&O amp bracket and affixed a piece of plywood there to mount the hideaway on

Sounds like your gain is set too high. That sound like it's going to blow might be a clipped signal your sub is getting

i got the new remote bass control knop and it works good now. thanks for the help
