I recently went on vacation, renting a car with Android Auto in it. When I got into that car, my phone automatically linked to Android Auto and could use maps without a USB cord.

In my maverick, I need to plug the phone into a USB cord to activate Android Auto and use any apps or maps. Can someone explain this to me? Is there something wrong with my Android Auto? Are there some settings that I'm missing? Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Newer vehicles have wireless carplay/android auto, 2025+ mavericks have wireless, 24 and below have wired.

you can get an adapter for older vehicles with wired aa/cp .. just search 'wireless android auto adapter' on amazon and there will be a slew of them.
