Automotive blackout tape for de-chroming trim.
Quality stuff will last years.

I have thought about some blue accents, possibly red.

I love blue stripes on white vehicles, the old GT350’s and the 1970 Trans Am looked so cool with that combination.

Hmmm, white caps. Might have to experiment with that.

Not sure if I want to deal with the surface dust and dirt accumulation that vinyl decals attract. My paint has enough wax/ceramic sealant on it now that it sheds road particulates pretty well. It’s extremely slick right now.

I don’t want to paint the lower black plastic for two reasons.

First, color matching the lower will make the truck look heavier and bloated looking, particularly the waist section where the bed and passenger body sections meet.

The black plastic angles can give visual interest to an otherwise generic body which is part of the reason designers do it.

I did the monochromatic look on a couple cars in the 80’s. It was cool, but now I‘ve changed my mind, I think it looks dated.

Second, textured plastic does not hold paint well, even with primer.

I have had lower plastic body sections like aftermarket chin spoilers painted, and they held up well. But, the plastic was smooth and the prep was done correctly. (Ka-Ching!)

I think I’m done, unless some of you start actually getting your Mavericks and letting me steal any good ideas!

Granted, they’re missing the Ford oval, but it’s not doing anything for me.

Oh well, been wanting to try that for a while to see what it looks like.

Yeah its a bit too "by itself". Maybe would have worked with RWL tires or something.
