Hello everyone. I’ve had a 24 XL for about 2 weeks. AWD with a hitch.
I’m looking to haul a 13’ kayak weekly, 20’ canoe once in a blue moon, and 4 wheeler or dirtbike occasionally.

previous set up was a 2011 escape with kayak on top and black widow hitch rack for dirt bike.

I got a quote for a 1000 series modular steel rack from Rackit Inc. $2230 and $375 for labor. I saw the YouTube video and would install this myself. I thought they were ~$1200. This is the first of 2 quotes I sought out in Texas. I was not expecting anywhere near that price.

Second good looking option would be a custom order XTR1 rack. The 20” high model has 38.5 inches of clearance. The 24” rack would let my 41” tall Honda Recon fit in, I hope!

the XTR 1 would then require a single Yakima type cross bar over the cab to get the long boats on top. I don’t k ow what model crossbar would be level with the 24 inch XTR1.

Any options I’ve overlooked or has anyone needed a similar solution?

this isnt a rack, but does all that, but one. The bed tilts so you can drive an ATV on. The top holds 180 lbs. I dont think a 20 ft canoe would fit though, thats huge. Also the company just came out with a new model designed for Overlanding. I use mine all the time.

Couldn't you use the same (or similar) setup as your previous SUV? The dynamic load rating on my cheap roof rack is 165 lbs. With a hitch extender in the vertical position, couldn't I haul a hard construction canoe or long kayak? Mine are all inflatable, but NRS straps and a roof rack is all I've ever used.

Those trailers are even more pricey and I’m trying to avoid trailers altogether.

hitch is reserved for dirtbike. I won’t ever take 4 wheeler and 2 dirt bikes at same time.
Either gonna be 4 wheeler + kayak.
Or
Kayak on rack, one bike in bed. One on hitch carriers. I have small bikes, XR 70 and XR 80.

the Yakima overhaul HD looks like it might fit the bill also, being adjustable to 30 inches to get my 4 wheeler clearance needed. Would then need an over the cab bar in addition for the boats.

Hi. I have a 17 ft canoe that I plan on carrying. I suspect that I'm going to just make a single rack for the bed since I have a Tonneau cover that doesn't have the ability to use any of the crossbars that I'm seeing. For the cab, I can simply add foam blocks that attach to the gunnels and a line to tie the front down with the two holes behind where some people are putting fog lamps. Actually the roof may be long enough that I can just use 4 foam blocks and tie the canoe down to the D hooks inside the bed.
