The @P99Guy has a great product. Didn't even know that my Mav had a large gapping hole that needed a cover until I saw his product. I don't really haul anything, but if I did...I am not going to get stuff all up in my mavericks bum.

Fits perfectly, shipped fast, looks OEM.

I tried to read through the multiple threads on the development. First of all, very impressive and thanks for your efforts! I didn't find an explanation of vented vs solid. Obviously, I know the difference, but do you have specific reasons or use cases for either one?
If you think the forum threads about the production of the covers is long, you should see the DMs when we were designing them! @P99Guy put a lot of work into these bad boys.
now, to support what @P99Guy said about vents and no vents, we basically put vents in there because people wanted vents. I think the conversation between me and @P99Guy went something like this:
P: why did you put vents, they are not necessary.
R: I know, but they look cool.
P: but they are not necessary, see this picture of actual drainage holes?
R: but people like vents. Who cares if they are needed?
P: fine, make ones with vents, but people won’t order them.
R: Yes they will, people like vents. They look cool.
3 months later…
P: huh, I guess you were right, people want vents.
~Fin~
but yeah, not needed šŸ™‚
Oh, and I run vented on mine because it looks cool šŸ˜Ž

I don’t remember now but wasn’t your original design vented?
I think I had to beg you to fill in those damn holes.

I think the only reason I agreed to make a solid one is because it was easier to add the vents last. 😜

I printed these yesterday and they are a perfect fit. There was a thread a while back where someone had mentioned hauling some pea gravel and some got into their tailgate through these openings and it rattled every time they would close the tailgate. I found this file on a Facebook group with the link to Thingiverse. Printed in Black PETG and took right at an hour. Very practical print and I have not seen anything like this being sold aftermarket.

This is the link if anyone wants to print it themselves.

Thanks!
There have been several threads in the past about these, but haven't seen any in a while. Some of them also have small vent slots in the plastic, to aid in drying condensation from the hollow tailgate cavity.

Yes despite my argument with Richard about the slots, I have to admit the Vented/Slotted version is the most popular!

yes @P99Guy still exists and is now officially retired (5 pm yesterday) so maybe some cool new stuff can start to materialize.

RC I hope all is well with you and your family!

Thank you! Looking forward to it. I think.
Now I feel like a jerk. I haven’t been trolling MTC for so long that I am wishing @P99Guy a happy retirement (finally) 3 months too late. Hope you enjoy it.

I went from a 2014 F150 to the 2025 Hybrid Maverick. My F150 had the rusting wheel well and the bottom edge of the tailgate - seems to be a usual Ford issue. It bothers me that they would leave such a big opening in the tailgate. Wish I had noticed it before I bought. Not looking forward to the rust issue....

How does a painted hole in a tailgate ensure that there will be a rust issue?
