I purchased a mirror dash camera for my Maverick. Not so much for the dash camera aspect (I already have Garmin dash cams), but for the rearview video mirror. The challenge was where to mount the rear camera. I went with attaching it to the receiver hitch. This location works, but it is a little low. I got this setup for my F150 also. On the F150 I tried mounting the camera to the top of the tailgate and this has worked out great. After trialing it I printed a 3D camera mount. Since this worked out so well I printed a mount for the Maverick too. The first picture is the mount for the Maverick. The second picture is my F150 with my original mount and the newly printed mount. I used 3M body tape to attach it. It is really sturdy and will probably handle anything. I haven't tested it in a carwash yet. Carwashes can be brutal on accessories. I've attached my STL file so that you can print one if you're interested in this sort of thing.

I'm installing a similar camera this weekend. I'm planning on putting it by the third brake light. I'm afraid it would get knocked off on the tailgate.

That'll certainly work. The downside will be that the bed will always be in view. On the other hand, if you think you need a bed camera, well, two birds with one stone. Doubtful the camera will get in your way mounted on the tailgate. You know it's there. I figure the worst that'll happen is it gets knocked loose. Doubtful I'll break. It's as solid as a rock. I've seen the inside of my type of camera. Before the tailgate my camera was mounted on the receiver hitch. It was lower than I liked, but it worked just fine there.
