I did a thing.

I swear every time I look at the blank space of the dashboard and see those screws there, I just see an opportunity. And so I made a quick adapter to put a phone mount to the right of the screen.

Printed in rapid PETG, still very much a WIP. I wish I could get the same Ford dashboard screws, just slightly longer... STL file linked is the version on the dashboard now, v3 is printing now and will need testing. Also recommend an extension arm so the mount is offset and not hitting the screen. Thinking of also surrounding the print in foam/rubber strip to avoid plastic-on-plastic.

Maverick Tax included.

EDIT: Newer WIP STL file

Oh, and the extension arm, and more importantly, the adapter plate I used. Both purchased some time ago and these exact ones are not available, but alternatives are around.

I like it! I like how you utilized the one mounting point and presented 4 for the actual mount. I heard that this factory screw/location is not "strong" enough for a mount. Is this different for the 25 models?

There is some small movement of the dashboard plastic, so it may not be a long-term solution. I think the screw may not be penetrating deep enough since it has to hold on to the part, and I don't want to risk over-torquing the stock screw, so I need to try getting a slightly longer screw to grab on fully.

I think I am going to use double-sided 3M pads to help assist holding it in place at the angled portion when I install v3 later today.

The next one I designed has places for hex nuts at the base of the print so the 4 M4 bolts don't keep spinning as you assemble it. Version 1 used smaller diameter holes that the bolts grabbed on to, but I don't want to risk print integrity.

I made a holder out of PETG and it worked until mid summer. The heat in the car (SW Ohio)really made the plastic soft and it eventually broke off the ball mount. Granted it was pretty exposed as it was a dash cubby mount.

Keep working on it!
And when you have the product you REALLY like, please share the file with us.
I don't know anything about 3D printing, but our library has a printer and a librarian who loves making stuff.
Thanks!

Another company made a mount that uses that screw and it grips the side of the cubby. The screw is never long enough and would always eventually strip out. I looked a bunch of places for a longer screw but gave up. I sent the mount back to the company. I ended up buying the bulletproof mount that screws into the tray on the dash. It is very solid and has been great for the past year I’ve owned it. Lots of mounting options and flexibility and the phone doesn’t move an inch. It doesn’t cost money but not much more compared to what I spent on the other mount system.
