3D Print Tailgate Letters

Slightly off topic but wondering if anybody has seen model(s) the dashboard tray inserts (orange/blue bits on XLTs). Haven't turned up any with forum search.

Hmm, the ones I got had some kind of thin clear adhesive if you can call it that. Contacted and got the typical, it’s never happened. However, the protective plastic on the other side had a better bond than the adhesive side. There is some 3 emblem adhesive, but some of the reviews, shows it messed up the paint a little. Like the letters they sent, just got to get them to stick.

Sounds like when you take your car to the dealership and explain you're having a common enough issue they may have a recall for so many have it and the guy says.. Hmmm haven't ever heard of that happening before lol...Do they train these guys to lie? are they just naturally adept or predisposed to it or do they get ordered to do so under penalty of getting fired..I ask as this just happened a couple years back and I started laughing when the guy told me he had never heard of my issue before... 1.5 months later nationwide recall for the issue is put out lol..

Yeah my only problem with thingiverse is someone is going to take them and start selling them on Etsy or eBay. I think someone posted an SVG on reddit.

Just curious, was the motivation for taking it down because people would profit off your work?

Hey, finally got around to trying to print these and saw the stl was gone. I get the motivation, but any chance you'd be willing to share privately?

While I wait for my letters to arrive from AliX, I tried to convert the online image into a printable STL. It worked pretty ok - some refinement needed but I couldn't find any thing available online. I don't have any red 3M tape laying around so I had to use some generic doubleside tape that doesn't really stick to the waxed letters. I might play around with them a little more to put them on the front hood kind of like the Ford Explorer letters.

Definitely print using PETG or ABS. If using it for the truck. ABS has better UV resistance and can be vapor smoothed but PETG is easier to print.

I would love the STL if you're still offering it!! Just found out my local library has a 3D printer and want to test it out.

So, I'm getting a set with my Ford pass points. I will make a new STL with Solidworks and measure these bad boys up before installing them for the community. Just give me a few weeks guys.
