22 FX4 - part K2GZ9E731B (RDU speed sensor) location

Hi all - I got a new to me Maverick FX4 (2022). We have had it for about a year and all has been great - even driving in the huge amounts of snow we got this year !

The service manual honestly doesn't have a great picture, but I assume it's the only electrical connector on the RDU. Just follow one of the rear axles to the unit and you should see it.

I hit post too quick sorry!

Anyways I got the dreaded “Powertrain Malfunction” error. It has only appeared once before but after a recent oil change, I received the message numerous times in a day. I went to Ford for a scan and they mentioned that the Rdu speed sensor is cooked

Does anyone know where this sensor is located on the truck. I got quoted an amount that shocked me a little and after goggle and chatgpt search think that either the dealer cannot count or might be trying to jam me.

Looks like it's on the top side in the middle.

***update.

I had this fixed at local shop for 1/3 the cost of the dealership !!

Truck runs great and 0 alerts.
