I reserved a Maverick from the Ford website. Received an automated confirmation "<Dealer name> has received your 2022 Ford Maverick reservation" followed a minute later by an automated reply from the dealer. No reservation number is listed in either email.

I had called the Internet Sales Manager at the dealer before making my reservation. I asked her if I could use Ford X-plan pricing. She did not know but promised to get back to me. When she emailed later she said unfortunately they're not offering any partner pricing.

When we spoke on the phone she said that when they convert my reservation to an order there will be a $1,000 non-refundable deposit. In her email she apologized and said it's actually a $2,000 deposit. I haven't responded to ask if my reservation is of any value until it becomes a firm order. Does anyone know the answer to that question?

I'll watch this forum to see what experiences others have. I can understand making some kind of deposit in ordinary circumstances, but a large non-refundable deposit with no guarantee of a delivery date would be problematic, given that Ford has had Bronco / Bronco Sport customers wait for exceedingly long times.
I paid a $500 deposit, and it is refundable if I don't buy!

I wish Ford would reveal how orders are processed. Ordered my lariat on 6-19 and have heard others say they ordered two week ago and have a build date already.
As I understand it, and as stated in the Ford confirmation message after your order is placed, build times can be delayed for many reasons. Lack of parts or options manufactured outside the Hermosillo factory seems to be the most frequent reason for delay in the case of the Maverick. Other factors have to do with logistics, such as grouping orders that will be shipped to particular distribution points, and allotments of orders associated with particular dealers. This last has been suggested now and then, but no details confirmed. The logistic of filling up railroad carriers with vehicles that all go to the same distribution point is a significant complexity, however.

Selection of the orders to be built can also result from trying to group vehicles that will all be painted with the same color, or that all have the same trim level or common features. In the end, it's pretty complex and not just a matter of "first in, first out" for the orders. At least, that's my understanding, but I'm not directly involved in Ford logistics either.

Sorry if this has been asked already, but how soon after placing the order with the dealer do you get a confirmation email? Or do you even get a confirmation email?
It seems to depend partly on how quickly your dealer processes and submits the order. I ordered through Harvard Ford (Harvard, IL) and my confirmation message was waiting for me in my e-mail by the time I got back home. Others have reported next day receipt of the confirmation. I assume you should receive a confirmation, either by e-mail or regular snail mail. If days pass without it, you might need to contact the dealer again and inquire.

It’s up to the dealership to decide to honor x-plan, not Ford. My dealer is honoring this in my case.

From this database (through #1870) for orders that only have build dates of 11/1 or 11/8 that were scheduled today 9/16 here is the results of those upcoming builds:

30 builds, 16 on 11/1 and 14 on 11/8

3 XL Builds, 1 HYB, 2 ECO
17 XLT Builds, 8 HYB, 9 ECO
10 LARIAT Builds, All 10 are ECO, No HYB

Of the 30 Builds 9 HYB, 21 ECO

Longest date from order to Build date goes to:
#42 Dreams who ordered on 6/11 and has a build date of 11/1, 150 days from order to build

Shortest date from order to Build date goes to:
#1819 catinthebathtub who ordered on 9/10 and has a build date of 11/1, 52 days from order to build

I did the above to get an idea on what got scheduled on 9/16.

Results:

30% Hybrid, 70% EcoBoost
56.7% XLT, 33.3% Lariat, 10% XL
Very interesting! I ordered Hybrid and am SO disappointed that they are going to be be so slow to produce. Have rcvd two messages this week (1 email and one in conversation w my salesman) suggesting we should change or order to the Ecoboost.

Oh wow, I was the unicorn XL Hybrid! I was thinking there would’ve been more hybrid’s in general
I show 11 XL Hybrids with November build dates on the list now.. I added mine Thursday but I don't think the list got updated until the weekend.

Based on the updated list...

84 builds, 39 on 11/1 and 45 on 11/8

15 XL Builds, 10 HYB, 5 ECO
47 XLT Builds, 21 HYB, 26 ECO
22 LARIAT Builds, 6 HYB, 16 ECO

Of the 84 Builds 37 HYB, 47 ECO

There were 5 others in the data with builds on other dates in November and I left them out of these numbers.

It’s up to the dealership to decide to honor x-plan, not Ford. My dealer is honoring this in my case.
When I was looking to purchase my 2000 F350 Super Duty Crew Cab 7.2L diesel, four Ford dealers would not take the order because it was A-Plan and would be one less in their "monthly allocation" and they couldn't haggle price/profit. The fifth Ford dealer I went to said that it was not a problem since an order was an order and they would get their money from Ford within 2 months and they would gain a new customer. Not only did he gain a customer, but he sold not one, but four F350 Super Duty 7.2L diesels. He was extremely happy over this and I have been a customer of his ever since and they treat me extremely well to this day. So because the other dealers were afraid of having to wait for their money from Ford, another dealer was paid 4x over for not being greedy.
