The fire issue recall is a metal plate that needs vent holes (extremely minor recall)....Ford is probably prioritizing this part for new production trucks. My Dealer says "recalls" some times need parts that some times customers have to show up in person to initiate the local Ford Service Dept to order the part to get the ball rolling. Dealers do not know you are in need of a recall serviced until you show up; or call. I have 5 Ford Dealership I could have gone to, hard for Ford to know which Dealership I would show up at.

Overall, for me, Ford's recalls have been far smoother than my first year Mini-Cooper.
Ford had that vent hole recall a year ago and most auto experts agreed it was a pathetic attempt by Ford to fix a major issue. I had that recall "fix" done and its effectiveness can be clearly judged by the fact Ford issued another engine fire recall. It didn't fix anything.

My dealer said some dealer techs did a sloppy job trying to fix the plate and FORD sent my dealer an alert..."too wait for the correct replacement plate"., don't try to jerry-rig a fix. Been 8 months since the recall...my dealership is still waiting for the part.

Would be best for Ford Corporate to clarify directly to the consumer!

I was wondering about this. So, if I understand correctly, the original part is a plastic under plate which Ford wants to replace with a metal one that has pre-drilled vent holes. What escapes me is how does that solve the problem of internal engine failure which is really the source.
Thanks for the clarification and yeah, you're right about Ford being more transparent.

They're both felted plastic. The newer production version is just the EcoBoost engine compartment shield without the air scoop AWD ones have for the PTU. The intention was that the extra drainage and airflow from removal of the active grille shutters would allow any oil from a ruptured crankcase/drainpan from being sufficiently retained as to result in a fire (and presumably your engine grenading would be a warranty issue). That even post-modification vehicles subsequently had engine compartment fires prompted the second, yet-unresolved recall.
